Gesse Rosa Profile

Greetings!
My name is Gesse Rosa.

I have a deep passion for education and teaching; if it were possible, I would gladly do it without charge. My greatest reward is witnessing the transformation of a student from saying, "I don't know math" or "I'm not good at math," to confidently declaring, "I love math."

My Way

  • I customize and personalize instruction to meet each student's unique needs. Rather than adhering to a traditional academic calendar, I focus on allowing students to progress at a pace that matches their readiness and willingness to learn, ensuring genuine understanding and lasting achievement.

  • I prioritize consistent and open communication with parents about their childrens' progress, and make myself available daily to discuss their progress and how to support them the most.

  • I significantly reduce the time required to master the subject compared to traditional educational institutions.

  • Not only do students learn at a much faster pace, but they also engage with the subject at a far deeper and more complex level than is typically possible through traditional methods. With my approach, students develop true understanding rather than relying on rote memorization, allowing them to retain and apply their knowledge well into college and beyond.

  • Every dedicated and engaged student who works with me completes their studies fully prepared for the science and math sections of the ACT and SAT, reaching at least a first-year college level. This level of achievement is often attained during the early teenage years.

My Education

  • Brigham Young University:

    • Chemical Engineering (2000)

  • University of Utah:

    • Chemistry (2005)

    • Physics (2009)

My Publications

How It Works:

1. Class

Students attend 1-hour classes at least once a week, and and optionally more.

In class, students learn the material in the homework, and also work with hands-on projects and work with their friends to solve advanced problems.

Each class is held in-person and livestreamed via Zoom, so students can attend online or in-person.

2. Creative
Projects

We offer all students opportunities outside of class to work together and develop their creativity in math and science. These include the Board of Scholars, the group of students who administer the business aspects of the program, math competitions, and design projects.

3. Private Tutoring

Every student has access to private tutoring via Zoom, which is complimentary with our classes. This gives students a chance to have all their questions answered and get instruction tailored to their needs.

4. Homework

Homework is assigned once a week through Canvas, the LMS used by Harvard. Each homework comes with help videos with Gesse working all of the problems, as well as an answer key. We rely on parents to ensure students complete the homework.

5. Tests

We administer tests online through Canvas. We send the students' grades to their parents so they can keep track of progress.

Testimonials

"My students love Gesse, he is engaging and fun."

"My kids hated math. It was something I struggled with in homeschooling and now they love it and they are doing so well."

"My top three reasons for wanting to take Gesse's classes next year:

  1. He is fun! He is funny! His classes are fun! I'm not completely opposed to admitting that sometimes math can be fun.

  2. He makes math make sense. It was awesome to realize that I can understand math. I always hated math before, but now I think I might be good at it.

  3. It is awesome to learn math with friends. Gesse answers our questions until we all understand. Sometimes I didn't even know I had a question until someone else asked it. It also really helps me to have a consistent time each week for math with an encouraging teacher. â€‹

Gesse's classes have been a really good thing for me. I have gained a lot of confidence. I'm happy I get to have him as my teacher again!"
